Wakatsuru
Discover rare and collectible Wakatsuru whisky for sale at Rare Malts & Co, including limited releases and distinctive Japanese whiskies associated with Saburomaru Distillery.
Wakatsuru Shuzo has a long history of sake and spirits production in Toyama Prefecture, Japan, and began producing whisky in the post-war era. Its whisky operations are today closely associated with Saburomaru Distillery, which has emerged as one of the more distinctive names in modern Japanese whisky.
Saburomaru is particularly known for its focus on smoky and peated whisky, alongside experimentation with distillation, maturation and locally developed production equipment.
Older Wakatsuru bottlings and limited Saburomaru releases provide collectors with an interesting link between the earlier history of Japanese whisky and the country's new generation of craft distilleries.
