Rare Malts & Co is an independent specialist in rare and collectible whisky, with a particular passion for Japanese whisky and hard-to-find releases from legendary distilleries such as Karuizawa, Hanyu, Yamazaki and Chichibu.
Hi, Steven here!
I have been an avid whisky lover and collector for many years. What started simply as an appreciation of whisky gradually became a serious passion for discovering, collecting and sharing rare bottles — particularly Japanese whisky.
One of the first drams that still brings a smile to my face was a Taketsuru 25 Year Old that I enjoyed during a visit to Yoichi Distillery many years ago. It was an exquisite introduction, and that experience helped begin my journey into the wonderful world of Japanese whisky. I still remember how affordable Japanese whisky was then — times have certainly changed!
Over the years, my interest developed into serious collecting, particularly releases from Karuizawa, Hanyu and other Japanese distilleries. Along the way, I have built relationships with fellow collectors and whisky enthusiasts around the world.
My journey as a collector has also led to opportunities to share my experiences and views on Japanese whisky with the media. I have been featured by CNA Luxury and The Straits Times, discussing Japanese whisky, collecting, rare bottles and how the market has evolved over the years.
Rare Malts & Co grew naturally from that passion.
Today, we specialise in sourcing rare and collectible Japanese whisky, alongside carefully selected Scotch whisky, gin and other exceptional spirits. Our collection ranges from individual vintage and single-cask bottlings to discontinued releases, limited editions and complete collector sets that can be extremely difficult to assemble.
We don't aim to stock everything. Our focus is on bottles that are genuinely interesting, scarce or collectible.
As a collector myself, I understand that purchasing a rare bottle — particularly from another country — requires trust. Authenticity, bottle condition, careful handling, secure packaging and clear communication are therefore extremely important to us.
