Nikka Whisky was founded by Masataka Taketsuru, one of the most influential figures in the history of Japanese whisky. After studying whisky making in Scotland, Taketsuru established his first distillery at Yoichi in Hokkaido in 1934, followed by Miyagikyo Distillery in 1969.

The contrasting styles of Yoichi and Miyagikyo provide Nikka with an exceptional range of malt whiskies for its single malts and celebrated blends. Over the decades, Nikka has produced numerous aged, vintage and limited releases that have become increasingly desirable among enthusiasts and collectors.
