Kavalan Solist Amontillado Sherry Single Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky was launched at the end of 2015.  On 17 March 2016 at the Whisky Magazine Awards Dinner in London, it was named '2016 World's Best Single Cask Single Malt'. The World Whiskies Awards (WWA) is one of the most prestigious and influential World Drinks Awards programme. It is the world’s No. 1 online resource for drinks professionals.  It is Kavalan’s second time to be awarded by World Whiskies Awards(WWA) for being the World’s Best Whisky.
Tasting Notes: (WWA)
Hints of raisin and coconut on the nose, but essentially what we have here is a toffee smoking a cinnamon flavoured cigar. The palate opens with a nice burst of sweet fresh fruit – guava and melon - front to mid palate, after which the wood takes over; a Christmas pine hit, the fruit now acting as flamboyant outriders, the caramels rushing in to fill the gap. The finish is long and dry and punches into the throat.
