The spectacular Miyagikyo 12 year is a true masterpiece. This special distillery in the Sendai prefecture makes some of the best whisky in Japan. Softly smoky and utterly irresistible, the 12 year old from Miyagikyo shows incredible balance and complexity. The pungent nose of bright fruit and soft phenol is marked by a wonderful honeyed vanilla. On the palate the richness is evident and the sweetness is perfectly balanced by the most subtle whiffs of peat, grass, earth and exotic wood. This special whisky is more expensive than it’s pure malt brother, Taketsuru 12 year, but shows a great deal more complexity.
