A 34 year old Bunnahabhain selected by Jim McEwan (Master Distiller at Bruichladdich). The Celtic Heartlands range exhibits Jim's incredible originality when it comes to Scotch whisky, and this 1973 vintage (a release of 669 decanters, matured in refill sherry) is true testament to this.

Tasting Note
Nose: Incredibly rum-like aroma with notes of dark sugar. Then there are all sorts of cooked fruits, a bit like a rhubarb crumble, but with a really mature spicy edge. Then hints of over-ripe orchard fruits and their blossom.

Palate: Very soft in terms of peat smoke. This has a heat though, like glowing embers, but only faint hints of smoke. Notes of Cognac rancio, perhaps a hint of two of porcini mushrooms, citrus, marmalade, almond.

Finish: Gentle to finish, still carrying an incredible silky mouthfeel. Supple and decadent.
