Ji-Whisky
The "Ji" in "Ji-whisky" means local and is close to the concepts of "micro-brewing" or "micro-distilling". It is made by small local distillers whose main stay is producing sake and shochu. Ji-Whisky is usually not sold nation wide, available only in the local areas in which it was produced.
Ji-Whisky distillers use unique techniques honed from their expertise in making sake and shochu.
While not all Ji-Whiskies can compare with powerhouse distillers such as Suntory and Nikka, there are some Ji-Whiskies that are surprising good.
